St. Joseph’s College, Hassan (SJC Hassan) created awareness among students and staff
about the Ayushman Bharat / Arogya Card by inviting Spandana Digital Seva Kendra to the
campus for on-the-spot registration. The initiative aimed at enabling easy access to
government-sponsored health insurance for members of the college community.
Ayushman Bharat is a flagship welfare programme of the Government of India that provides
health insurance coverage to citizens, especially offering crucial financial support during
hospitalization and medical treatment. The scheme has emerged as timely assistance for
individuals and families facing healthcare-related expenses.
As part of the initiative, Mr Sylvester A, Proprietor of Spandana Digital Seva Kendra, set up a
registration kiosk on the SJC Hassan campus for the day. He personally assisted students and
staff in completing the required procedures and facilitated the issuance of Ayushman Bharat
/ Arogya Cards.
The programme witnessed active participation, with both staff and students successfully
availing themselves of the benefits of the scheme. This initiative reflects SJC Hassan’s
continued commitment to the health, welfare, and social security of its academic
community. Fr Olvin Veigas, SJ, faculty and Campus Animator at SJC organized the
programme. The event took place on 07 February 2026.
