The various activities of the Kannada Sangha for the academic year 2026 were officially
inaugurated at St Joseph’s College, Hassan with a beautiful program in the quadrangle of the
college. The Kannada Sangha aims to promote the Kannada language, literature, culture and
art among students while nurturing a deep sense of reverence, interest and appreciation for
the rich heritage of Kannada.

St Joseph’s College, Hassan, celebrated the 70th Kannada Rajyotsava with great
enthusiasm and cultural splendour. The campus was vibrant with the colours of Karnataka
and the spirit of Kannada pride.
The Chief Guest, Fr Prashanth Madtha SJ—noted Kannada literary figure, educationist, and
recipient of the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award 2024—addressed the gathering with an
inspiring message on cultivating discipline and reverence in life. Drawing from the rich
heritage of Kannada literature, he encouraged the audience to cherish and uphold the values
and wisdom embedded in the works of great poets and writers who have shaped Karnataka’s
identity.

The Kannada Sangha of St Joseph’s College, Hassan, organized a special lecture by H. G.
Kanchana Mala to celebrate and honour women of courage who shaped society with their
strength and determination.
In her inspiring address, the septuagenarian Ms. HG Kanchana Mala, former district joint
secretary Scouts and Guides, Hassan emphasized the importance of values, courage, and
resilience among girls and women to make a meaningful difference in today’s polarized
society.
