Honouring the Women of Courage at SJC Hassan

The Kannada Sangha of St Joseph’s College, Hassan, organized a special lecture by H. G. Kanchana Mala to celebrate and honour women of courage who shaped society with their strength and determination.

In her inspiring address, the septuagenarian Ms. HG Kanchana Mala, former district joint secretary Scouts and Guides, Hassan emphasized the importance of values, courage, and resilience among girls and women to make a meaningful difference in today’s polarized society. She reminded the audience that women have always been at the forefront of social change and encouraged students to draw strength from their legacy.

The lecture also paid tribute to great women freedom fighters from Karnataka such as Kittur Rani Chennamma, Rani Abbakka Devi, Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, and others, who stood tall with unwavering courage and leadership. Their lives continue to inspire generations to uphold justice, equality, and dignity. Three students dressed as above personalities and draw the attention of all.

Fr Maxim Dias SJ, the Principal, Fr Olvin Veigas SJ Campus Animator, Mr Rangegowda, faculty animator of Kannada Sangha spoke at the occasion. Welcome dance, nadagite, etc., were performed by the students. The session was a celebration of women’s enduring contribution to society and a call to the youth to carry forward their spirit of courage and commitment.
