St Joseph's College, Hassan, organized its Orientation Day at the Loyola Auditorium, warmly
welcoming 330 first-year students to the academic year 2026–27. The programme began
with the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge and wisdom.
Dr. Maxim Dias SJ, Principal, welcomed the gathering, while Rev. Fr. Olvin Veigas SJ
introduced the distinctive features of education at St Joseph's College, highlighting its focus
on capacity-building programmes, internships, and campus placement opportunities. The
Chief Guest, Fr. Cyril Pereira, addressed students and parents on the importance of
nurturing healthy parent–student relationships. The presidential address was delivered by
Fr. Leo Pereira SJ.
The second session acquainted students with campus life and institutional opportunities.
Mr. Pradeep Kumar V explained the college rules and regulations, Fr. Olvin Veigas spoke
about industry centred placement initiatives, Ms. Veronica P introduced the mentoring
system, Mr. Anil M.S. highlighted cultural activities, and Mr. Range Gowda presented the
activities of the National Service Scheme (NSS).
The orientation programme provided the new students with a meaningful introduction to
the academic environment, values, and opportunities that await them at St Joseph's
College. The event took place on 16 th July 2026. Ms Meghana MS, HOD of BCA coordinated
the event with student volunteers and faculty.
