Kannada Sangha of SJC Hassan, under the guidance of Mr Dinesh M Gaonkar and Mr Range Gowda organised a Kannada Nruthya Sangama on 29.08.2019 in the Auditorium of SJC Hassan. This was mainly an inter class dance competition where in each of the class had a team formed and competed against the other to the tunes of Kannada music. The youth now days is mostly following the western culture, there by which the Kannada Samskruthi is losing its heritage. To imbibe the Kannada culture among the students this day was organised by the Kannada Sangha.

The day began with the formal programme. Dr Hamppenahalli Timmegowda, Retired Professor, Govt First Grade College was the chief guest for the program. The other dignitaries on the dais were Rev Fr Roshan David Periera, Director, SJC Hassan, Mr Dinesh M Gaonkar, Principal, SJC Hassan and Mr Range Gowda, coordinator of Kannada Sangha. Before the formal program the nada geethe "Jaya Hai Karnataka Maathe" was sung. The program was hosted by Ms Surabhi. Ms Aisiri invoked God's blessings through a hymn. Mr Chandan MR welcomed the gathering. The chief guest Dr Hampenahalli Timmegowda addressed the gathering in which he said "From many ages people from the royal families have strived hard to promote the culture and heritage of the Kannadigas. When I hear the term Kannada, I cannot express the joy in my heart. As of now if we look around we can see that the land and water of Karnataka has already been stolen away, soon there may be a time even when the Kannada language may lose its existence. Let us all be proud of being Kannadigas and let us all strive to maintain the rich heritage of our mother land Karnataka"

The chief guest was felicitated, after which the Principal, Mr Dinesh M Goankar and the Director Rev Fr Roshan David Periera addressed the gathering. Mr Anand, dance master at SVM School was called upon to judge the competition. 8 teams had participated for the dance competition where in the 1st place was bagged by 2nd BCom B batch students, 2nd place was bagged by 1st BCom B batch students and 3rd place was bagged by 1st BBA students. After the dance competition Mr Anand who was the judge for the competition, danced at the request of the audience.
